GEMBOND ✦ EmeraldGreeting, this is Nanami Kento's voice mail. I am unavailable. Please leave a short message and I will get back to you. Thank you.
[Now, then. Alucard can hardly blame the man. He does not truly know his story, nor where this predilection comes from — something quite important, or a life-changing event, perhaps, that caused him to be this way. Or perhaps it was his personality, and little more than that?
Hard to say, coming from a man who does not desire to be perceived by anyone, as he says.
Alucard gives the bartender at a distance a little wave, motioning for him to come over. No doubt Nanami’s own order will be filled soon, should the man have an idea of what he wants.]
[ When the bartender comes by, he immediately orders a cheap beer for himself. He just isn't someone who likes to drink something expensive on someone else's tab, either. (Hmph!) ]
Those from my home have an idea of who I am, but they do not know me. I am fine if that is how things remain.
[ The ones that know him are the ones that knew him before he decided that he no longer desired to be seen by anyone. He would rather just remove his emotions from the equation -- from every equation -- so that he can effectively complete each task set before him. ]
You seem bothered by this, even though I wished for it not to be.
[Alucards brows pinch together slightly as he considers this. Bothered? He isn’t quite sure if that’s the right word, but it is something he considers strange.
A clink on the bartop indicates that they’ve received their drinks, and Alucard’s pale fingers slip around his glass as he weighs what to say next.]
Not bothered. Simply confused.
[He clinks a nail against the glass.]
It seems lonely, I think. But keep in mind that this is coming from a man who struggled with much the same. [Past tense, what a lark.] I will admit that being able to keep an arm-length distance from strangers is ideal, but to those who are… closer? That would be more difficult.
[He takes a drink. It goes down like fire, and he wrinkles his nose.]
Ah… or is it that you remain mysterious everyone in your world?
[ He offers a small hum when Alucard says that he struggled the same as he is. Nanami doesn't believe that he's struggling, but that is the truth that he is living in. Truths are different for many people, and the reality he lives in is one where he is not burdened by keeping others away. ]
It is difficult but relatively easy, as well. [ A beat follows. ] I place their lives before my own. They may wish to perceive me but they have troubles that far outweigh my existence, in my opinion, anyway.
So, they do not really have the time to be concerned or confused about what I am doing. [ Nanami takes a drink of his beer, and lets out a pleased sigh as soon as he finishes swallowing. ] So, there is no mystery. It is merely that I place myself behind their problems. [ And lives. ]

No one at all? What about those from your home?
